IT Security Team wins NHS Digital award for Innovation in Cyber

NHS Informatics Merseyside's innovative work in cyber security was formally recognised at the Cyber Associates Network (CAN) Awards 2022 on Monday 28 March 2022 when the team scooped the Innovation in Cyber award, with Mark Williams, IT Security Consultant, also highly commended for his hard work, professionalism, and commitment to innovation and improvement.

The awards covered a range of individual and team categories, recognising innovative approaches to NHS cyber security.

Organising the awards, NHS Digital said it was proud of everyone working in the NHS cybersecurity space – highlighting the important role they played in protecting the health service from cyber attacks and supporting organisations from across the NHS with advice, assessments and training.

Accepting the award on behalf of the team, Steven Parker, Associate Director of IT at NHS Informatics Merseyside, said:

“I am extremely proud of both Mark and the team for their hard work and commitment to enhancing cyber security awareness and resilience. The team’s desire to constantly improve and innovate is inspiring and as a service, with their support, we have been able to identify and implement state-of-the-art technologies and approaches for preventing, detecting, containing, and responding to threats, which have helped enhance the cyber maturity of those we work with.”
