In 2012, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust became the host organisation and the North Mersey Health Informatics Service was renamed Informatics Merseyside. This marked an important stage in IM’s development as a recognisable digital shared service supporting multiple NHS partners.

The period also saw growing external recognition. The IT Service Desk achieved two-star Service Desk Institute (SDI) accreditation in 2012 and became the first NHS IT Service Desk in England to achieve three-star certification in 2014. In 2015, the team was runner-up in the Best Large IT Service Desk category at the IT Service and Support Awards, competing alongside major international organisations. IM also received Excellence in Informatics accreditation for its approach to workforce development.

Alongside service improvement, IM continued to support significant digital change across its partners. This included electronic patient records, electronic prescribing, clinical information systems, primary care system migrations, integration services, infrastructure modernisation and the development of digital skills across the NHS workforce.
